Side By Side Accuracy Test - La Crosse View Sensors

Accuracy Test - La Crosse View

When a sensor's accuracy is in question, we suggest doing a side by side test.

Bring the outdoor temperature/humidity sensor in the house and place it next to your station for 2 hours.

  • Compare indoor and outdoor temperatures. The temperatures should be within 4 degrees (F)to be within tolerance. The humidity should be within +/-7% to be within tolerance.
  • If the sensor reads correctly when next to your station, then try a different location outside.  Look for heat sources such as sunlight, door or window frames, or reflected heat that may cause inaccurate readings.
  • Press and release the SENSOR button two times to view the sensor ID number.  Compare the barcode on your sensor to be sure it matches.
  • If your temperature is reading low, and location is not an issue, you may have a bad sensor.  Replacement sensors may be available; click here.

If the readings are outside of our tolerance please contact us with examples of the readings.
