Temperature Sensor Placement/Mounting Instructions

LOCATION OF YOUR OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS IMPORTANT.

Note:  Temporarily secure sensors in place for a few hours before permanently mounting them, to be sure they will read to your clock or weather station from that location.

Temperature / Temperature-Humidity Sensors

• Mount the sensor vertically at least 6 feet off the ground.
• Provide good airflow around the sensor.
• Direct sunlight can inflate the temperature reading, so a north-side, shaded location is best.
• If you have a solar panel on the sensor it will need to be charged. Mounting the sensor facing east will allow it to charge with the cooler morning sun.
• Be aware of heat sources such as soffit or dryer vents, windows or door frames.

IMPORTANT: Some rain and wind sensors transmit to the temperature/humidity sensor and others send directly to the weather station display. Consider the transmission distance to the unit that will receive the signal when choosing a location to mount your sensors. If your sensors are corded, be sure to secure any additional cord from blowing around.
